The Architectural
Foundation of San Francisco has formed a partnership
with the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco
Unified School District, the California College of
the Arts, and the University of San Francisco that
combines music and architecture as the focus of the
Symphony’s “Adventures In Music” school
program during the school year.
In
2005, the program reached 79 schools, 176 classrooms,
and 4614 fifth grade students in every elementary
school in the San Francisco Unified School District.
AFSF provides curriculum content, instructional materials,
and background information, participates in professional
development workshops for teachers from the 91 participating
SFUSD elementary schools, and provides architects
and architectural students from the CCA and USF architectural
programs to make presentations on the art of San
Francisco architecture during visits to all participating
AIM classrooms.
